i am always incredibly excited when i find a cute new place to catch up with friends and can't help but share the best finds with you all. i recently discovered this adorable vintage cafe/ shop in the middle of the myer centre (adelaide city)- level 2. it serves some incredible chocolate tea and is filled with lots and lots of cute clothes. i was smitten. it's only been open for a few months and it was just lovely; having a cup of tea, watching some old movies on the retro tv and then shopping...i've found it all.

tourist in adelaide: the fleurieu pantry
i haven't done a tourist post for a while but finally i've found another place which is worth posting about.
i confess. i never ever go down south of adelaide but when a close friend sent me an invite for a kitchen tea in port noarlunga, i caved and ventured south. and i am so glad i did! it's a bit of a drive from adelaide city (app 40 mins) but there is the most gorgeous shopping precinct in gawler rd, port noarlunga. there are all these cute antique, collectable shops and about 20 places i wanted to eat in. but for today's post i'm going to share about the lovely fleurieu pantry. it's an extremely cute little cafe/restaurant that hosts a cheap and delicious high tea. it also has a little gift shop attached which makes for some excellent browsing.

picnic in rymill park.
i'm fortunate to have a place to stay in adelaide that's close to the city. so when friends turned up at my door loaded with a picnic basket and rug, i knew rymill park was just the place to go. it's a beautiful park just near the city with a lovely little lake and long luscious trees everywhere. not to mention lots of roses and a playground. and a picnic in a park is always a good excuse to test out my new tripod and see if i can get a nice picture of everyone.
i must add as well that rymill park is the perfect setting for an alice in wonderland themed birthday celebration. in the corner of the park is a beautiful alice statue...so i thought i'd share some photos from feb 2010 when the park was the setting of an alice birthday celebration.

tourist in adelaide: veale gardens.
just saying: i consider myself a bit of an expert when it comes to knowing the best places in adelaide. so when my father in law decided to have his 60th at the pavilion in veale gardens, i thought the gardens can't be too good, after all i've never been there. i was wrong. they are so beautiful and i had to fight off the urge to run back to car and pull out our trusty picnic rug and eat outside. but, of course, i am extremely dignified and sat in my chair staring out at the gardens thinking of the first possible date to organise a long picnic. only 2 more weeks till holidays.
enjoy the rest of the weekend

looking for the perfect breakfast.
i've shared a few favourite eating spots in Adelaide.
and last time i was in adelaide i found another one, the organic market, Stirling.
i was super impressed by their great coffee, to die for muffins and delicious smoothies.
there's also a cute market out back to stock up on organic produce.

tasty adelaide
On the way to and from Canberra I stopped off in Adelaide and like most things my time in Adelaide revolved around food:
- Mum's amazing homemade pumpkin soup
- Fresh jam and cream scones and lattes at our families' favourite cafe in Stirling
- A hot chicken roast with piles of vegies.
- Chocolates and other treats at Grandma's while played cards
- Delicious honey cupcakes baked by Jasmine
- Green chicken curry and chicken cashew from Parade thai
- Macarons!!!
I was introduced to the most lovely macaron shop round with a cutesy herb patch out front and incredible mango tea. It was taste bud heaven and definately my favourite dessert place find this year. The decor is something out of a interior design mag with the most spectacular wallpaper and an excellent cook book shop out back. Five thumbs up from me.
Check it out:

Will be going back there soon!

pizza. pizza. pizza
Living in the country means very limited food choices. We have plenty of junk food... maccas, hungry jacks, kfc, barnacle bills, eagle boys, yummy noodles, ian's chicken hut, gotable fish and chips, wendys. Then we have 6 or so pubs, 3 indian places- ones a restuarant, two are just take away , 2 chinese shops, one fantastic bakery, a cafe primo, a few delis and cafes and two subways. We've eaten or had a drink at every single one of these places so there's nothing exciting about eating out at home anymore.
So being in the city this weekend we celebrated food choices by going to our all time favourite pizza place for yiros pizza and dessert pizza. It was so tasty!
