bits + pieces + some thrift shop finds.

it's been a very busy week going back to work. i have a gorgeous group of children to teach but i forgot how tiring fourteen 5 year olds can be (though i should really count my blessings- in a few terms i'll have twenty-six 5 year olds).
our neighbours moved house, just a few streets away, but now they have the most amazing indoor pool. i'm in love with it! it was blissful lying in the warm pool watching a crazy storm outside the other night. now my ex-neighbours have shown me their amazing pool, they're going to have a very, very regular visitor!
husband and i found it was easy to turn our new bed into a fort and had a lazy night under our fort watching lawrence leung's choose your own adventure (hilarious but a bit cringe worthy too). we ordered a pizza and ate it in our fort. i see a lot more fort dates in our future.
we've got a special little guest at the moment as we're dog sitting. maisy loves having a new friend around and the little guy is super sweet. having a new friend has already produced lots of laughs as we watch them both compete for our affection and see if either of them can get away with jumping on our bed.
while it was a super busy week, i still had a quick peek in the local thrift shop. i found this pretty casserole dish for $2 and snapped it up. i can never have too many casserole dishes! especially when you keep forgetting to bring them home after pot luck dinner parties.
and i also found these cute matching ramekins which will get much use since our last set of ramekins got lost in the move (2 years ago!) and i still hadn't bought new ones. it's time to start baking mini pies, pasta bakes and baked eggs.
happy thrifting! enjoy the rest of your weekend x

christmas and such.

we had a lovely christmas, boxing day and proclamation day ( a south australian holiday) surrounded by family and friends. i actually had such a busy and fun time that i got caught up in long conversations and didnt get the camera out.
but it was maisy's first christmas and being the dog obsessed people we are, we had to buy her a few little treats and remind her on this special day that she is one loved little dog...

Dog dress ups part 2

a dear friend of ours heard that we had bought maisy a little santa costume and said "would you like some more?" let me stress...i did not buy these costumes for maisy, all i've spent on doggy costumes is $4 but when given an amazing gift like below, how could i not use them!
so thankyou to the friend who gave these to us and i couldnt help sharing them with you. so enjoy this little photo spread of my bee-utiful army loving maisy.

and  in her robe ready for bed...watch out future children, costumes make me smile too much :)

christmas dog.

(source)
it's maisy's first christmas and since she's so little and cute anyway i thought why not dress her up in a costume and take a cute snap for christmas. however dog photography is not quite as easy as the above picture lead me to believe. not all dogs like to keep their tongues in their mouths and their hats on their heads, even when bribed with treats...

we had our town christmas pageant last weekend and i was very pleased to see other dressed up doggies, it's not only me who gets a bit excited about the christmas season. you have to admit it, dogs look pretty darn cute in christmas outfits.

birthday.

it was maisy's first birthday yesterday. i didn't dress her up in a party hat or give her a cake but i did spoil her rotten with food snacks and a new toy. i'm so glad to have this little cutie in my life.

excuse me, what are you doing in my house?

i'll admit that i've been tricked by twins swapping hairstyles and have not recognised a person straight away because their hair was different. and dogs are no exception. every time maisy goes off to the hairdressers i seem to get a different dog back. good thing the dog that comes out responds to "maisy" or i'd be lost...that and her teeth are a big give away.

my gruffalo.

every morning maisy comes up to our bed and goes gruff, gruff, gruff until we pick her up and give her a cuddle. so we nicknamed her "the gruffalo". then today we discovered that there is more than one gruffalo. when exploring some shops in a nearby town we stumbled across a book called 'the gruffalo' and it's about a creature that's got maisy's underbite. we can't believe the similarities!

see the resemblance :) i love my gruffalo.

weekly gratitude part 2

the last few days have been a rollercoaster of emotions and i thought it'd be nice to share some things that have made me smile. From top: 1) tasty homemade soup left on my doorstep by a caring friend. 2) homemade cappuccinos..yum. 3) losing my voice and so being unable to work but still able to do most other things. thus a trip to my favourite op shop only open during school hours. result: some new table decorations and maisy trying to steal my newly acquired picnic rug.
so that's it, my little celebration of small special things.

food food food

in adelaide last weekend i was on the lookout a great place to eat and came across a lovely organic cafe- wild thyme. it's on melbourne st, north adelaide and sells amazing super fresh food and has a super cute little organic shop out the back.
also if you're in the mood for sweets you should check out the mac factory or the best pizza round at fellini's.
and something cute for your thursday...

we stopped calling her Maisy and started calling her bucket head...

Yes, poor Maisy has had to wear a bucket on her head all week as she started trying to lick near her stitches.
"How can I fit through the doggy door with my bucket?"
Bucket head is always good for a cuddle.

my poor Maisy

Little Maiso was desexed today and it was a bit tough. I felt all old and responsible taking my own dog in to be desexed and awfully sorry to be responsible for her going through so much pain.
She was awfully cute when she got home- massively drugged up and out of it from the anesthetic.
I set her bed up beside mine, put her favourite squishy bear in the her bed and picked some pretty roses from the garden to put in a vase near her bed. This little fluff ball is pretty special to me.

Play date love

I love watching animals. I've been on safari and to many an animal place but sometimes the best entertainment is right at home watching Maisy and her bestie, Bella, play.
trying to lick the camera
They had a lovely play in the mud and needed a bath

I love my Maisy, she's a pretty special dog.
